I just want to clarify first that I love that Invisible Children is bringing awareness, and getting lazy, superficial Americans off their butts (because some of us are often found on the couch watching the Kardashians), so they can do something that’s bigger than themselves. But I don’t quite agree with their methods. And Americans don’t understand that things are different in Africa. In America, the bad guys are the terrorists and the good guys are our soldiers. But in Africa, sometimes the soldiers aren’t much different. How do I know? Because my family is African. Because when the news tells you to support, the capture of one particular “bad guy” leader (google Ivory Coast) my family and I are calling our other family members in the Ivory Coast and finding that it’s quite the opposite. So I post this to remind you all to stay informed, and know your facts, not just the facts they want you to know.
